I’ve been MIA from CdC this past month as business has been insanely busy. Being self-employed, there are ups and downs; sometimes business is too slow and other times I’m running a marathon. It’s definitely been the latter lately.
I’ve had a multitude of diverse and overlapping projects since my last entry; producing and styling a shoot for Fashion Magazine on fall makeup trends, outfitting new hosts for a television show and their promo shoot, consulting, shopping and putting together looks for the special election night coverage on CBC, wardrobe styling a commercial, styling a photo shoot for a custom holiday magazine and overseeing the creation of a glamorous one-of-a kind gown for one of my clients! Whew, all the while binge watching 5 seasons of Game of Thrones with my husband, I’m addicted I tell ya, addicted. I almost forgot to mention, I also escaped for one weekend with my hubby and hid out in Old Montreal too.
What a gorgeous autumn we’re having, the leaves are falling and Christmas is in the air…. Say what? At least according to the retailers anyway. Everywhere you look are Christmas decorations, promotions and gift giving ideas. I try to shop early for x-mas gifts, as November/December are historically busy months for business, leaving little time to do my personal shopping. Online shopping has been a lifesaver for me the past few years. I can work all day, and shop online at night.
I was excited to be able to attend a holiday gift-giving preview last week, hosted by Shop.ca. I was on the prowl for gift ideas for my loved ones, as well as yours. Anyone unfamiliar with the site, it’s a Canadian online shopping destination where you can find hundreds of brands and products. They have everything from fashion, to home wear and electronics. The site is well designed, easy to navigate and always has an interesting selection of products. With the strong US dollar cramping my online shopping, I love the fact that I can buy here in Canada at Shop.ca without incurring extra costs for the exchange rate, duties, customs and international shipping.
The preview was set up in a beautifully decorated condo, belonging to a fictitious, very stylish woman named Sloan. Upon arrival I was encouraged to snoop around her apartment to look at everything there. Peeking in her cupboards and drawers were not only encouraged, I even had permission to try on her clothes! It was fun, and I saw a number of new great gift ideas I’m excited to share with you over the coming weeks.
